The useful signal
DFPP first separates plasma from blood cells, then uses a second membrane to retain selected higher-molecular-weight components. Compared with non-selective plasma exchange, it may preserve more smaller components such as albumin and reduce replacement-fluid requirements in some protocols.
What this does not prove
Limitations that change the interpretation
- Removal is semi-selective, not a complete cleansing of blood or the body.
- Results depend on molecular size, membrane choice, processed volume and repeat-treatment plan.
- Evidence for medical indications cannot automatically support elective longevity claims.
- Changing a circulating component does not prove improved healthspan or slower aging.
