NK cells are immune cells that can recognize and destroy certain abnormal or infected cells without prior sensitization. Therapeutic programmes may collect, expand or otherwise prepare NK cells before administration. This is different from stem-cell therapy: NK cells are immune-effector cells, not regenerative MSCs.

What NK cells do

Natural killer cells patrol the body as part of innate immunity. Their name describes their ability to act against certain stressed, infected or abnormal cells without the same prior training required by some other immune cells.

NK cells are not stem cells

Stem cells and NK cells serve different biological roles. MSC programmes focus on regenerative signalling and immune modulation; NK-cell programmes aim to influence immune surveillance or cytotoxic activity. They should never be presented as interchangeable.
